We just got back from a wheeling trip to Red lake and Bald Mountain. Thank God it didn't break on a curve!!!
So I haven't decided on which route to take? One of these two..

megaphoneman

Awwww your pms make so much more sense.. I have steering links made out of 250 wall tubing for heim steering for a mini axle.. Worked fine on trixxie..

Blaaaahhhhhhhh

Dingman.

Shoulda just duct taped the drag link to the tie rod.  :booya:

JK  glad it broke at a decent time instead of on the freeway or wherever else.

I think it is.
Question- I saw that you posted on some guys forum  on how to weld the bung properly.

Any tips??

I am assuming you're heading out  MRC 13??

Yeap ill be there! And yes, you want to rosette the tube to weld it and bevel the edge of the tube as much as you can..

Also check this thread out..

Good info in it..

http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/fab-shop/159017.htm

There is one more thread when i get to the office ill look it up..

Btw i have the model 32 and have never looked back

I have 5 dies for it...

megaphoneman

here is the other thread...for converting it over to air over hydro...
http://www.dezertrangers.com/vb/fab-shop/136668-2.htm

i have bent 2in 188 wall with it and it bent it fine...
the model 32 is the better bend of the two JD ones...
but either JD32 or a Pro tools is all good. they are pretty much the same.
I converted mine over for under 200 bucks. It was easy to make a stand and get the ram from Harbor freight...

Preparing the links.

I cut the drag link 33" and the other link 39"
It left half the thread inside the tube.

I did run into a problem. The heim joints are rubbing

Yeah its just more stress on the bolt.. Shorter the better what high steer arms are those?

megaphoneman

Well hydro assist wont help the rubbing.. Its just more stress cause you are using more bolt shank.. I think ur fine just use a stover nut and keep an extra bolt on board

Cool!! Thanks for the info!

I decided to give it a shot! I cracked open my gear box.

Installed it and it started to leak from the input shaft.

Took it apart and replaced the seal.
Part number if anyone just wants to replace the seal

Installed it, ran lines.. I used the stock pump.   It does have some delay. I'll install cooler and add more fluid. Hope it works.

I am not sure yet, with the wire mesh I am sure it can hold a couple bodies.  Lol. I'd say  100-200 lbs.

What so hard about it. The guys on the trial today "The Hammers" are the hardiest on the west cost.

winch hills and water crossings when they are flowing good.

youtube search fordyce trail and u will see, rubicon is a walk in the park compared.
