First Transfer case rebuild
« on: Feb 28, 2014, 09:37:34 AM »
OK so I have a spare RF1A transfer case sitting around and I have decided to go ahead and check out the internals and reseal the unit.  I also found a stripped drain plug to drill out and replace.  So I have received a reseal kit and drain plug from Marlin today and will begin the reassembly process tomorrow.  My only question at this time is do I need to apply any type of gasket sealer to the paper gaskets supplied in the kit or do I put them on dry.  Thanks in advance bro's.

GaJoker, Take the extra time to make sure the area the gaskets touch don't have a rolled over lip or rough edge. If there is just knock it down with a file or the gaskets will not seal and you'll get some seepage.
