Marlin R151f Rebuild

I'm looking at getting a R151f tranny rebuilt through Marlin Crawler. I have a current one in my truck so would order the rebuilt one then swap for the core...I'm pricing out parts at this time, so mostly doing research.

1. What heavy duty "extras" are added to the regular R151f rebuild? I know the HD bearing retainer plate is included, but what about the billet shift fork or the 1st gear thrust washer upgrades? It says on line that some of these are included in the "Race" and "Competition" tranny builds, but I can't find information on the website for those "levels".

2. What else is done to the tranny to make it "better than OEM"?

3. I have an '89 22RE currently in my '89 4Runner and would like to do the clutch when I swap the tranny, upgrading to the turbo clutch and flywheel at the same time. What other parts do you recommend replacing while I'm in there? I want a new set-up that I don't need to worry about on the trail or road.

Thanks for anyone who can shed light on these questions...I know I could call on Monday...

Marlin does (almost?) all of the tranny work personally. He did my R151F and I'm very happy 5 years later. Not being a techie I can't speak to the details of what he did, though. He is VERY thorough and meticulous. Knowing what I know now I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks. Coming from Marlin Crawler, I only expect the best and most meticulous work. I'm really just curious what the parts are that are added, mostly the known-to-be weak shift fork and thrust washer. I might end up calling but am very open to hearing others' experiences with their rebuild trannies!

I also am very curious what all is done to them. The 9 week turn around is a huge turn off tho :(

Finally got around to calling and got some information on the rebuild. The standard rebuild includes the heavy duty bearing retainer plate. You can add the billet shift fork and thrust washer into your order (by paying for the parts, of course) and Marlin will install it during the rebuild. When I talked to them, they had sent out something like 16 rebuilt trannies THAT DAY, so no wonder there's a 9-11 week wait. Apparently, it's worth it though...I definitely have one in my future, just not sure how soon.
