Gearing?????

has any one heard of 4.23 gears for toyota axles. thanks

never herd of a 4.23,,But I think the auto 4 runner came with like a 4.27 or somthing in that range..There a little on the rare side..

i can get front and rear axles with posi traction but the guy said he was pretty sure the gearing was 4.23, but i have never heard of that. is there any way to check.

I am pretty sure he is mistaken and means 4.27..There is a way to check,,,best way is to pull a third and count gears,,ring and pinion,,..There is a way to check by rotating drivelines and tires,,but I've never been a real fan of that..too much room for error..

4.30's are everywhere in 4 cyl auto trucks and runners.  Ive never heard of 4.23's but I had a set of 3.73's once.....
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Ditto on what WT said, mid 80s-ish 4bys with autos had 4.30 but that's the closest I've seen.  I'll check my chart when I get home, but if you wanna know what ratios toyota has made you can check at toysport.com.

79's with 4spd are 4.37's  maybe thats what he 's got
