1uz to gm trans?

my brother and i are thinking of throwing a 90 1uz in his 72 gmc stepside 4x4 but want to retain the granny transmission and wondering if someone made an adapter kit i did search and found out that uses a th400 but we dont want that tranny any info would be great

Seems to me it would be easier to swap in a Northstar. Lots of hp, higher tech than a typical sbc or bbc.
A 1uz does not use a th400 chev trans. It's an A340 series auto.

ya i know it doesnt come with  a th400 but that the only info on an adaptor i could find have the 90 1uz with auto trans already

Advance or maybe Inchworm?  Is it possible to use the Toy auto trans and then Inchworm adapter to mini truck case?  Or something along those lines...  I don't know what side your front diff is on.

it has a front passenger side d60 and advanced doesnt have one ill talk to jim

Doesn't Marlin have a 5.15 first gear for the R series trans. Then maybe go get the manual swap kit for the 1uz. Just a thought.

If I can find out how he did his converter i am going to use the info posted on lextreme.com to mate either a turbo 350 or a 200R4 to a 1uz and put them in a Honda prelude with a ford 8.8 rear end. gonna be a street/strip car. Gonna take a bit to do as cash flow sucks right now.

saving the 1uz for my runner and we decided to put in a 5.3 in it and that way we dont need any adapters or to change any drive train positions
