I have an 82 2wd pick up that has an exhaust manifold that has an O2 sensor.  The wire for the sensor in the manifold is just hanging and I dont see any evidence of a wire coming out of the wire loom where it should connect.  The hood on this truck is obviously not original as its vaccuum diagram is for an 80 model and there are no stickers about smog requirements.  I live in the Fresno area so I have to pretty much abide by any and all Ca smog bs.   It does appear there is a sensor post cat on this truck.  Did all pick ups have an O2 sensor or did some that only had to meet fed regs not have them?  I have been told no tech would let this thing pass with the wire just hanging.  Should I remove the sensor and make a block off plate and cover the hole?  Any advice is appreciated, Thank you.

if there is no check engine lights and the engine passes the sniffer clean..i'd say tuck it in and try to hide it in a wire loom or whatever...
if it passes the sniffer, no trouble codes and looks like its connected somewhere who cares?
my truck only has 1 o2 sensor on the manifold...'85 22re

Is it 22r or was it converted to a 22re? the carb motors did not use a o2 sensor so maybe its not the original manifold if its a carb motor, if thats the case it wont matter for smog

This isn't exactly correct, the Fed. smog 22r's didn't use O2 sensors, but the CA smog vehicles do.  I am not sure if the CA 22r's had O2 sensors in '84, but by '86 they did.

I like the idea to tuck it into the loom.  My 81 with a 22r has an o2 sensor so I figured it was a Ca truck and this was a fed truck.
