Dr Phat

Just doing some research before I go about doing something the wrong way.

In reference to my other thread, my housing was damaged during a gear swap so I cant use the housing, however can I still install the carrier and housing to finish rebuilding my axle? Its completely torn down right now and I want to get it all buttoned up back together and just change the diff out later when I secure a new housing.

I was wondering if I could just do the "camo method" to leave the knuckles relatively intact and just pull the shafts to get the diff out? Sounds good?

OOPS

Yep!!!!

How did you mess up a housing doing a gear swap?

It either happened when the housing slipped in press or when the dog knocked it over when I had it balanced on the pinion end on the garage floor. Somehow a small chunk broke off where the adjuster caps mate with the housing and took a few threads with it. Very freak thing. I thought about just using a Dremel to just file the bad threads down but seems a little sketchy to me.
