How much lift?

How much lift is too much lift... My truck is factory but I have an opportunity to pick up some 5" all pro springs from some one on Craig's list. Guy says they are real soft and settle to a 4" hight,  my buddy has a 3" on his yota and it looks fine I'm afraid of goin too high and having a crappy center of gravity. Or am I just totally paranoid

5" is a lot, most try to lift as little as possible.

General rule is for every inch you increase the height, you need to widen the track width by 1.5".

Also my buddy has a 3" kit on his 84 with 33" tires and he rubs his fenders would wheel spacers help with that too or should we just cut fenders?

What is the tire width along with rim width and backspacing(distance from edge of rim to the mounting flange) of the rims?

Where do they rub, the actual fender, or the inner body seam on the fire wall?

They are 12.5" wide not sure on rim back spacing but they sit out more than factory they are the cheap black steel rims everyone gets... Rubs on the fire wall flange and a little on the fender right next to that flange. We are thinking about making relief cuts in it and bending it over

I have a set of fives in the rear, and I think they are too high. I'm contemplating removing leafs or replacing them. I'm currently just leaving some spare firewood in the back to settle them down. So my advice is lower has serious advantages with Toyota axles

I have 5" front & rear and I feel it is too much lift I'm currently waiting for them to settle and plan to remove a leaf or 2.

slow and low babey!  go as low as possible. lol theres going to have to be a meeting between your sawzall and fenders though

You don't need to make any relief cuts on the body seam, you can just beat it over with a hammer.

Agreed lower is better. With 4" springs I removed 2 lowest leaves and was able to stuff 37's in mine. I've since linked and stretched and lowered again...
