axle popping noise

Hi everyone, My 1979 Toyota's axle is making a popping/clicking noise when in 4wd. It stops when in 2wd but there is still a clicking noise when turning sharply and going slow. I replaced the hubs so i know thats nt it. Also noticed that the hub lock nut is busted. could that be causing the noise? :turtle:
