so I sold my 79 long bed a few months ago and have been looking for something a bit more comfortable.
So I found this FJ80 on craigslist and I love it. Poser pics only :outtahere:

the plan is to buy a beater toyota to wheel within a year, and keep this thing clean.

i like it, i have been thinking of doing one up myself
it's not me, it's you

Nice rig.  I love the 80's, but I love the 60's body style better.  Everybody that I know that has an 80 loves them, but only drawbacks are they are heavy, and gas hogs.

indeed she is a gas hog, someday she will have a more modern, more powerful heart.

after a year of DD duty and very little maintenance she passed CA smog just fine with no tune up or anything 279k  miles on her.

the 3fe will never die. but a large v8 may take its place.

after a year though my only complaint is the slight lack of power, but i came into this truck after driving a 79 with a tired as hell 20r so the land cruiser feels fast haha.

just thought id update this thread.

What V8 you thinking on?  I know alot of people love the GM 5.3's.  Several friends have them in their pickups, and in stock form are getting 20 mpg.  One person claimed almost 23 one trip, but that was all flat hwy driving tho.

YEah, I love my 22RE, anything bigger than that, I'd be walking everywhere.  It keeps me from getting tickets.

I think the 5.3l vortec is most likely but Id love to put  a 4.7l out of a tundra in it. I haven't done much research on it yet as it wont happen for awhile, maybe sooner than later if the 3fe dies but I doubt it.

I also love the 22r/re motors. I wasnt too big of a fan of the 20r but I think that was just my 20r.

no luck on that, plus I dont know anyone locally who likes wheeling. also not too many legal trails around here.

I'm more interested in getting a quad or dirtbike now and making the land cruiser a better DD, I also got a free trailer that needs about 150 dollars worth of parts so I can haul a quad or something with the fj80.

You are not that far from wheeling.

no I know, got slickrock and tons of forest roads.  I guess I'm just not that into it anymore, everyone I know here thinks its boring. my buddys dad has a fully built 1 ton jeep and they have NO desire to take it out.

I occasionally take the fj80 on the sourgrass trail near my house, I plan to go out there soon and pick up all the trash left at the campsites.
