Well progress has been slow lately but I have done some work to the front axle I am planning on using. I used the Marlin Crawler knuckle gasset kit and diff guard. First i did all the trussing and then I cut the factory differential guard off and welded the Marlin cover on. Next I plan on clearencing the axle but not until I get the differential installed so I can get enough clearence.

Ill definitely be following this. I just picked up an 84 runner for its front axle to swap into my surf. Which is rhd.

Does marlin have a rhd hysteer kit? Only know of the "other guys" rhd kit

I didn't want to use a cast arm from China for the high steer and Marlin does not offer a RHD unit so I Called Sky Manufacturing and I got one custom made from billet steel for $430 Shipped. I am supper excited and it should be here on Friday. I am leaving this weekend to Simi Valley to start the major part of the build.

Well I went down to Simi Valley last week and worked at Empire Fabrication on some projects of Sean's and my 4runner.

On Monday I spent the day stripping the the cab. Took all the dash and the wiring out of the cab and removed all the engine bay crap.

On Tuesday I started the rear leaf spring conversion but later I had to work on Sean's Sami until 5:30am the next morning. I thought it would be easy to locate the rear axle but its not and will need to have some one come and help me set it up because Sean was no help at all in this area because he was being lazy.

On Wednesday I finished drilling out the the spot welds and set the RHD firewall in place.

You sir have more patients then I, I would have not been able to drill spot welds but would have taken a grinder or sawsall to that fire wall in a heartbeat.

Progress is looking good

On Thursday I preped the metla for the welding and placed all the C-clamps to hold it in place. Sean started the welding at about 1am and we had half of it finished before we called it a night.

On Friday I finished the welding and I took the old style front end of and I put the the later model front end fron the JDM RHD front clip.

On Saturday I decided it was time to head home. On the way the trailer had a different idea and tire let go in Earlimart so I had to wait for my sister to bring the spare from Exeter. I got home around 1:45am and today I painted the firewall and the frame and tomorrow I ma going to seal the body seams and reinstall the Wiring and the dash. I am not sure if I am going to use the RHD wiring loom that has no cruise and was for an automatic and was cut short of the computer or flip the stock wiring and use the original one that has cruise and is setup for the 5speed but had Anti-lock brakes. Decisions.  :headscratch:

toyotajoe35

Well today I spent the day bolting up the HVAC system and bolting on some of the engine bay components. I am moving slow at this point because I am trying to determine what to do about the wiring. The original wiring that was from the RHD was cut and I have to use it because the RHD model was the 1 year that the Toyota Surf came with push button controls :headscratch: and it was a specific model that year and it would be impossible to find another used one. I need to find some one that is comfortable in performing wiring blends and repairs because I also need blend the 1UZ wiring loom. Anybody have any recomendations? :help:

What parts do you need? There are a fair amount of surfs here in alberta, and I have personally parted out two, maybe I can help find you something without having to go overseas.
