Best thing I can tell you, is you have two options:

1.  Go back to OEM setup with the trunnion bearings.
OR
2.  Call Trail Gear and see what they have to say!!

Sounds like you need to go back to trunnion bearings and sell those for scrap metal.  I wouldn't run more than a couple shims at best.  The more shims, the more your risk having your studs break.  Is that what you want?

if I had a problem with a TG part (not that THAT will ever happen) :rofl: I think maybe I would post on their forum and not Marlins since Marlin doesnt have jack rabbits to do with anything TG has,  :dunno:

If thers like half an inch of shims ya for sure I'll start breaking studs its just the fact that why would they make something that you have to run that many shims in

Majority of us on here will refuse to even deal with their products, including answers questions to help you out.  Yeah they got some stuff that is innovative, but most of their products is cheap copies of other true innovators, ie Marlin, and others like him.  And not just in the Toyota world, including the Suzuki, & Jeep market.

i run the trunnion bearing eliminator, and i havent had any issues with it. as for shims i think i used 1 thickest and 1 thinnest on top and bottom but i cant remember for sure.

Maybe the pins or the pockets aren't pressed in all the way? When you removed the races, did you file out any bumps in the bearing race pocket?

This is just my opinion but;

If everything is set-up right you will not be breaking studs.

ARP studs

Steering arms torqued to 100-110 ft. lbs.

If you have hydro-assist, the cylinder needs to be limited to act as your steering stop. If your cylinder still has travel after the knuckles hit the stops, you will break studs. Learned that the hard way.

Maybe it is because the T.E. is designed for the TG set-up; really do not know why that would make a difference.

The TG set-up is a good set-up (some D-60's use the basically the same type of set-up) and it works, Dave from Dave'z Off-road Performance has been running one for quite a while on a rig he DD's without a problem.

Do I run one, no I run Marlin's 25 mm set-up and am quite happy with it.

The problem with the tg stuff is the pin that presses into the arms is still small. I have seen that pin shear there on the regular trunnions before.

Time will tell, but I still think the 25mm is far superior. 2 years on mine and the trunnions are still new
