Swing-out tire carrier and bumper. Truck or 4runner.
« on: Dec 26, 2012, 11:49:24 PM »
Selling my latest bumper build...going in a different direction. Built this a year ago: main bumper is out of 2x3 .250 wall, while the tire carrier is 1.5x1.5 (can't remember thickness). Has trailer spindle hinge and two heavy duty toggle latches that clamp it shut.

This will work on a truck or 4runner (will need truck tailgate conversion for 4runner) that has had the fenders trimmed or will work on anything with new brackets made. (It bolts to factory bumper location and I also welded in side supports.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like more pics.

Best way to reach me is through PM or give me a call at (Four Zero Eight) Six Zero Eight Nine Five Nine Three

Located in San Jose area. $200. I will be taking it off this weekend.

Thanks,

Andy

May Bobby Long be forever immortalized in his work and deeds to the Toyota 4x4 community. Because of a select few including this wonderful man, none of us have to drive Jeeps. He will be missed.

Yea I will be passing through on the 1st on the way to Tahoe. Not sure it will fit in the back of the X5, let me take some measurements and see if it would fit.

Why does the 4runner need the truck-tailgate conversion?

You need to convert to a pickup tailgate because the brackets are made to come straight out of the frame. The pickup tailgate is much shorter than the 4runner thus allowing you to have the brackets come staright out of the frame. This raises the bumper significantly over the stock 4runner bumper location and improves the departure angle. You could always modify the brackets to drop down and thus work for a 4runner tailgate.
