W56 Reverse Sounds like a Meat Grinder?
« on: Jun 17, 2002, 01:21:46 AM »
My recently purchased '85 Runner w/W56 has a dying reverse gear. (Bearing of whatever)
I need options for replacing entire tranny with a unit from a salvage yard.
My '91 p/u also has a W56 but the TC shifter accompanies the tranny shifter on the tail section of the tranny.
1.  Will a forward style TC shifter Tranny/TC combo work in the "seperate shifter" style tranny/TC '85 Runner? Without conflicts with the floorboard, dash, or crossmember?
I have several options on a mated Tranny/TC combo from my local salvage yard.  But, they are only tagged with the Year of the vehicle that they were removed from.  2.  What model years are safe donors, if BOTH shifter combinations are applicable?
