Just thought id start a thread to see what people think the 79-83 pick up should be worth from stock to modded condition and or beat or capable

Great  RTW  (ready to wheel) $  -  $
Good stock  $ - $
fair   $ - $
Abused  $ - $

been thinking about how much harder there becoming to find clean and stock and available just in general

RTW: $5K-$6K
Good Stock: $4k-$5K
Fair: $1500-$2500
Abused or generally worn out: $250 -$1200

I got a semi hammered but low miles '80 ranch truck for $250 a few years back. Bought it from a barn yard with about 100K miles and a bad clutch slave.  It sat for a while and it took about 10,000 miles to work the cobwebs out. This is by far the best Toyota pickup I have ever owned. I'd love to restore it completely but at this point I like it in it's scuffed up condition because I use it so much. All i did to it was front and rear lockers, slight suspension massage, sliders/bumpers and cheap 31s on some steel SR5 wheels. Finally added an winch I had laying around for firewood and fence stretching duty.  It still looks basically stock.  I am adding dual t-case this winter just to add to the sleeper effect.  I have been offered a healthy profit may times but I won't sell it. 1st gens rule and we should all have a moderately built one in the stable to go with our other trucks. They are just so cool to see on the road and extremely useful if you don't make them to big.

Here it is with 1680 lbs of hay...

These things are getting hauled down to Mexico at record speed we really need to get a handle on that and keep a few of them around...

well to be honest it also really depends on your location in my opinion..which is one of the bigger factors
california, there is the "toyota tax" where everyone thinks their hunk of junk toyota is worth at least $4k no matter the condition because of the name :nonono:
rust belt might have higher prices for cleaner ones, etc..
I got my sr5 for $3500 in great condition completely stock in california after years of searching and getting lucky.
here it is stock when i bought it :

and after getting it a little dirty with some mods:

Yeah location is everything.  The '80 I bought for $250 in this area would have been $1000 just 100 miles away on the west side of the rockies. There is just no love for old japanese trucks over here and to most of the farm/ranch set who is replacing them with side by sides an old Toyota is no better than an old datsun, mazda or whatever. On the west side they are building and wheeling them and they bring a much higher price.

I recently purchased a 81 in good stock condition for 3500 in the Dallas area. I felt it was a fair price but also had a friend pick up in in similar condition for 1500. Depends on who's selling it and how attached they r. They're amazing trucks and like h8pvmt said,t they're becoming few and far between
