I can appreciate the time and quality and the fact that they are different (which can be very hard to accomplish sometimes) but they look heavy and un-necessarily overbuilt.

Those are very nice! But i agree, over built!  :flamer:I tend to over build stuff sometimes too....  :_oops:
To each his own and your criticism is fair enough:stomp:. Everyone can make simple parts that work for the most part, but I would say 4WU is going after the “Race Ready” market. Not many companies claim a product that is KOH proven. Although the shock towers have not been “proven” yet, I have no doubt they are worthy enough to carry that title too. So to say un-necessarily over build.. Maybe, for the well-traveled trails :driving:. But for racing on rocks and high speed.. I don’t think so.

This shock tower wasn’t just a first idea slap together either. After many many hours of CAD time, revisions bumps, CAD simulations, Prototypes, all while keeping the design’s performance and ascetics in tune to the nature of 4WU, Brian finally Ok’d this for production. The shock towers represent a piece of mind knowing that you have a premium, if not one of the best products you can buy for your Toyota. And that goes with all 4WU products.

Again, 4WU is a race ready company in my eyes that provides products that can’t be found on the market. I’ve talked to Brian and we both understand that his company sells to a niche market. To me, it looks like a lot of people are happy with leaf SAS kits. But for those looking for more, that want only the best, they have a company that understands their needs and that delivers :bling: :muscles:

well spoken sir,  I fully agree that 4wu has some great looking and performing, high quality parts!  Its just my personal preference that things dont look overdone and bulky.   Im sure they will serve their purpose very well

yep, they'll work with anything from a 2.5" coilover and down. So any 2.0' or 2.5" shock or air shock will work. It uses a 1.5" mounting width. And, are 17.5"s tall so you can cut them down to what ever size you need.

But... The housing is bent.. so bent that the birf's are stuck. I'm gun'a try a little pry bar action tonight but I think I'm gun'a have to cut the housing up just to to get the axles out.

I used the claw end of a hammer to get mine out of my bent housing it worked really well

I like the idea of a claw hammer, two should be handy! Thanks! But I'm not sure that's going to do the trick. And you are right John Doe, :flamer:ing the axle is most likely what I'll have to do. Hopefully it's only the long side that I'll have trouble with.

Looks like normal wear from your wipers to me. Do the grooves line up with the felt/wiper when the knuckle hits the stops?

The felts fall right into the groove when the hub is centered (truck going straight). I'm thinking that the felts (saturated in oil) held dirt and acted like an abrasive sanding disk. Thats my first though.. On the pass side, the groove is there, you can feel it. But the driver side is deeper. I'm a little worried that at higher off road speeds in the new axle, the ball could fracture around the groove.
I've been looking at pics online and most all the knuckle balls have some grooving to an extent. IDK, I sent an email to Diamond Axle. I'll wait to see what they have to say.

The bearings and races looked nice and spun nice, but that doesn't mean anything. I'm sure old bearings played some part in the issue.

Nabbed a gauge from work to measure the pits in the knuckle balls. Anyone know of a good hard coating that will work for this application?
