Still in the process of rebuilding my front axles. When I was disassembling the hub which houses the wheel bearings, I came across a small black o-ring seal with a tension spring in it that came in the packaging with my new wheel bearings. However I didn't come across this when I was taking it apart, any idea where it goes?

It's about the same diameter of the splines on the end of the birf, does it seal the gap between the birf and the spindle?

Goldrush

That seal is not needed. Throw it away. It's suppose to act as a seal I believe for fj80 kits, don't quote me on that but I believe that's what it is. All u need is those bearings. That seal is useless to you.

Yeah I found the pages I need online but they don't always include everything, like that drawing dosent show the races. I have a near photographic memory so that helps.

Thanks for the page from the FSM, much clearer than what I found, plus I have a Haynes manual.

Thanks for the help everyone, especially you OOPS haha.
