This may be an issue in another thread but I couldn't find it anywhere

I have an 88 xtracab 4x4 with a 22re and the stock gauge cluster. Speed, fuel, and water temp.
the temperature gauge appears to work at a small level, because when its cold it is at the bottom, but when it gets hot it hovers around 10% from the bottom. It never travels above 1/8th of the gauge and I have no idea if this is a sensor issue or wiring. Ive never messed with stock gauge clusters and am totally clueless.

It "works" but not the way it should. Any thoughts?

Are both lower and upper holes getting hot.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Where do I check for that? Like I said I have no idea where the sensors are and I'm totally new to factory electronics. Sorry for the hassle but thanks for the help

you could get a shop to use a temp gun and see what temp your running, or your sensor could be whack, had a old ford van had a bad one changed it and got a totally different reading,  make sure all your hoses are hot to touch when warm my 81 temp is at about a quarter  when im going really slow alittle below half,

Feel if both your radiator hoses are hot, is your heater blowing hot? if Both of these are yes than you're gauge is just off. If they're no then replace you're thermostat and thank god that it's on the top of your motor not the bottom (stupid volkswagon lol.)
