Camp fires are not allowed in Californian forests this year, but that didn't stop this group from bringing out a Propane powered ceramic log camp fire! Yes, this is allowed as is your propane powered lantern and propane powered camp stove. Pretty cool huh! I gotta get one of these!!

It was funny because this fire was immediately reported to me right after I announced no camp fires. So I walked over and bravely told the campers to put out their fire, only to find out it was none other than Scott "cruzila" Johnston -- the President of the Rubicon Trail Foundation -- with a few of his friends!! Hahahaha boy oh boy did I have to swallow my tongue for telling them that!

Here is Troy from Tacoma Washington who made the solo trip to his first ever Round Up and had a GREAT TIME with us! Thanks for coming Troy, sorry for the bad GPS coordinates and I hope to see ya here next year!!



Lastly, here I am back at the staging area just about ready for the 6 hour drive home!!


I had a GREAT time this year. I'd say this was the most enjoyable Round Up I've been to. I really enjoyed the relaxed format and am looking forward to a BLOW OUT event next year!! CAN'T WAIT!!

Wish my rig would have been ready.  The wife and I came in from the Tahoe side to the staging area then hiked are way down to the springs Saturday.  We got down to the springs at 4:30pm and were pretty beat.  We only stayed for about 30 minutes, gave our meal tickets away and hiked back out.

I am not sure who it was but one of the guys that was setting up for the BBQ gave us some extra water bottles for the trek out, thanks a lot.

I'll add my awesome walk-crawling pics when I get home

Sorry for the backup up caddy in the morning. Hope we weren't too much of a bother.

Sorry this was the only pic. You guys did a great job getting that other rig up the hill. This gave us the opportunity to enjoy Cadillac slowly but surely. The only other time I have gone up Caddy was two years before in pitch darkness at 5am. In the sunlight this year we realized how close we came to crazyiness in the dark without knowing it.

I was lucky enough to hang out and wheel with our Canadian buddies. That was them coming down Big Sluice, it was pretty funny seeing the spotter inside the vehicle but more than half way hanging out

As for the helicopter pic, that is my favorite of the set. Right after that pic, he kicked up so much dust you almost couldn't see him land. Luckily that dust settled some place else and not in my camp
