I have an 84 front axle and the passenger side u-bolt closest to the pumpkin want to tilt forward. I cant bend it backwards enough to put the plate over the pin on the leaf. Do I need to weld on new hanger.( I assume the person before me installed them correct) Also what should my pinion angle be for a 6" lift kit? Maybe my axle is sitting to far at a tilt forward so thats why I cant get it on should my axle be flat?

OOPS

They can be a real bummer to get on. What I found that worked for me was;

Do not put the U-bolts on the DS.

Put the axle at an angle with the DS towards the front.

Put the U-bolts and plate on the PS; tighten enough to keep the plate engaged with the spring bolt head.

Go to the DS and pull the axle into place, put the U-bolts and plate on, tighten the U-bolts enough to hold the plate on the spring center bolt head.

Tighten the U-bolts on the PS all the way up; tighten the U-bolts on the DS all the way up.

Proper torque for the U-bolts is 90 ft. lbs.

I ended up having to put the long u-bolt in a table vice and bend it where it needed to and it went right on.
