my first exo cage build

i built this cage last weekend for my buddies truck it was the first time using a tubing bender. thought id post it up here and see what you guys think

Looks clean but the bottom fender piece sits to low, if he ever wants to run a bigger it looks like it's going to have to be redone. I really like the light bar though. Also you should put a windshield spreader bar in there, I know they suck but I think it'll collapse in a hard flop otherwise.

sorry to hear that sparky . i was unaware of this, he told me you guys agreed on three hundred and as far as i know he paid you. have you tried calling him?

ya i thought those were low too but they were actually scrap from a piece we messed up. they were too short to move up higher and he didnt want to waste the tube.  we were planning on putting a lower wind shield bar in there but i kinda thought that light bar would strengthen things up ? it does need cross bracing on the back to the frame though.

The light bar should help some, but I'd at least run a brace from the top fender bar, where a spreader bar would attach, down to the frame. That would strengthen it greatly.

what size tubing you use?? did you use different tubing for light bar?? also too how far do you want cage to actual truck body???

haha  yeah I know.  there is no way he did that in two days,  especially if its his first one!

Me and a buddy did one that had a bit more tube than that, on 2nd gen runner, including the sliders, bumpers, and wrapping it around his backhalf he did, in porb 18 hrs.

Granted it was our first cage, and like eveyrones first cage, it had bends that could have been done better, bends that didnt follow lines exactly, and bends that were off. But it works, and it was a lerning experience.

I think its doable in 2 days if you had a helper and worked hard. That cage isnt complicated, its all coming off the sliders, and the front part is all simple bends.

well i dont really remember now. im pretty sure the bumper was like a half day in itself and then im pretty sure i had another two days in it . it did seem to go pretty fast . the hardest time i had was the tubes that go from the sliders up the a-pillar. The bumper is 1.75 and the rest of the cage is 1.5 that was his choice , if i do one for my runner its going to be 1.75 with maybe some 1.5 mixed in for braces and what not.

Irregardless of how long it took, I think its a sweet first cage.  The light bar is an awesome addition. Gives me ideas for my exo.
