Howdy folks.....I may have my JD 2 model 3 in my permanent possession.  I hope to know soon,  However if I get it, I have never used one.   Do you guys have links or other useful info on using it?  I think I can set it up alright that is it thou, the rest is a mystery right now. But I am a working man.....Don't want to waste any more tube than I have too, So I need to learn how right the first time or two.   Also right now the only place I have to mount it is the parking pad in front of my garage, It's just plain ole 4" concrete. Will that hold it for a while?

I plan on getting the Swag hydro kit for it later when I know for sure it's mine and the dollars are right.     Thanks.

Its easy to use.. what die did you get..? I recomend to bend at least 2-4 random bends and then mark them....that will also get you using it. The random bends are later on for marking tangent lines for your bends.. it comes in very useful for measuring. It zounds like a waste but it isnt. I recomend getting g the hydro kit or justt making it ur self. And then getting the ram from harbor freight..it make a world of difference..

I have four die sets, 1", 1.5", 1.625" and 1.750"they look like 180 deg dies to me. I need to go thru the catalog and verify what I have for sure.

This is what I have....and the pedestal.

nice! looks like you've got alot of good parts to get going.  with that selection of dies you will be able to build anything necessary for a rock crawler.  I have the model 32 bender and i like it alot.  it bends very smooth without distorting the tube.  Mounting it to the 4" concrete will be just fine.  Thats how i mount mine and it held up fine when i used to have to bend manually. now i have a HF hydraulic ram on it.  There are a few different types of hardware you can use to mount it to the concrete depending on whether you want it easily removeable or not.  I used the steel sleeves that you pound into the concrete, then you can bolt the pedestal down with regular 1/2" lag bolts.  Whenever the bender is in the way or if you need to turn it 90 or 180 degrees for any reason you can run the lag bolts out real quick with a cordless impact drill.  Its nice to be able to unbolt the bender quickly and move it out of the way if you need to.

Good to know stuff.   I was thinking about making a weatherproof cover for it or making a block that would fit over the anchors when not using it.

I mounted mine to a plate on wheels, I got the air over hydraulic, so I can mount it on wheels.  Mount yours to a solid foundation.  Make test bends with every lot, and mark where you started the bend.  The rest you could do easy.  1 test bend you could do all bends, with math and the bend, on paper.

Dragging up an old topic here, However it's an up date. The guy has never contacted me about the tools so I guess they are mine by default. I ordered the SWAG hydraulic kit and picked up a HF cylinder, Tomorrow I am building a roll around cart for it. Time to learn how to bend metal.

Some folks have talked about renting out their benders, Anyone do that and how much do you think is a fair price for rent?
I am out of work right now and my Doc don't want me to go back to work so side money might be how I keep my rig going,That or I find someone to give me lotsa money just because I am such a nice feller.

I wouldnt rent it to anyone that hasnt used one. You can mess them up a few dif ways. At least the model 32 I own you can.

edit, scratch that, i wouldnt rent any of my tools out to anyone, they can buy their own damn tools

I would be willing to bend for them, or have me show them
