Thrust Washer question

I'm rebuilding an 85 front axle and the thrust washer has a very deep grove in it.  So I pulled down an 83 front axle I picked up for parts and the washer in it is groved also.  Can I flip the washer around and use the other side?  The side that is groved has sharpe edges while the other side has rounded edges.

pretty sure that grove is suposed to be there...grove go toward the bearing.
