R151: 2wd or 4wd Bellhousing. Any Difference?

I believe that there were 22R-TE (turbo) powered 2wd pickups in 1986 through 1988. Is it safe to assume that they would have had an "R" series 2wd transmission behind that motor? or did they run something else? If the are both R series are the bellhousings interchangable? -- Matt
