Should I get rid of my 94 runner?
« on: Jun 06, 2012, 11:40:14 AM »
Well since my 4runner has a blown gasket, I was thinking about selling it.  :sad2: Or maybe trading it for a car with good gas mileage. I also have a 96 honda civic. So if I trade the runner for a gas rig, I was thinkin of trading the civic for a nice toyota. What is your opinion? Keep it and put loads of money into it? or trade it for a gas rig and trade the honda for a yota??  :headscratch:

Did you call the dealership yet?  A fresh headgasket from the dealer would sure help that resale value.

If you paid more than $1000-1500 for the Runner, you will likely lose money selling it if you doen't repair it first.  However if you bought the Runner w/wheeling in mind, it might be best to sell it even at a loss, take the cash you would have spent repairing it and buy a truck w/the 22r or 22re in it.  There is a lot of glass and sheet metal w/a Runner that can easilly get damaged off road, especially with a new wheeler behind the wheel.  A 3.0 rig also costs more to build when it comes to lockers and dual cases then the 22r(e) does, so what money you may lose on selling it now you would likely save when building up a 22r for the trail.

Thanks for the advice everyone! And I am new to this forum so I am not sure how to upload pictures. I will call the dealership tomorrow about my gasket and then trade it off for a nice 22re. :)  :talkingn:

For me it would be a decision of which body suits me best and how hardcore I'm gonna build it.

It is much more convenient to work on a 4 cylinder than a 6 cylinder... I think I have came to the point to just get rid of it and get a pickup truck.. :)

I'd sell it and find an 85 personally. Where are you in Washington?
