i wanna run dual cases but dont know how the top or forward trans and transfer case work? and what goes togther im super confused can anyone give me a link or explain how this all works  :smack:

on forward shift transfercases the forks stick out the front of the case and the shifter is in the tranny
top shift transfercases have the forks inside the tcase with the shifter mounted on the tcase

It's mainly an application thing. Forward shifts were used in certain years with certain options and top shift others. I'm talking about transfer cases that is.

i wouldn't say one is better than the other, but top shift is more common and sought after, and you can convert forward shift tcases to top shift

Yes, the R151F will bolt to your 22RE. That's what they normally bolt to. They were in Turbo trucks, 22RET's.

I got lucky and found one with the transfer case for $100. Only because neither of us knew what it was.

They are relatively hard to find. I don't know what they usually go for. You see them posted here in for sale section once in a while.

If you don't get the transfer case with it, you will have to buy or find a 23 spline input gear for your 21 spline case, the 23 spline gear is a direct fit. No mods, just swap the gear out.

Forward shift and top shift parts interchange also. You just have to put a cover plate on whatever shifter hole you don't use.

I have a forward shift trans so I used one forward shift rail and one top shift rail and made a twin stick setup using all stock Toyota parts.

The R151F is supposed to be so desirable but, I actually think my W56B had better gear ratios.
