We listened and made some improvements to the step plate. We were able to sink it down a tad to make it sit more flush with the bumper, and with it's improved fit, it required less welds. We also did a cleaner job at welding the turtle logo on



We only have 5 of these babies in stock at the moment -- we expect to get going with production within a few weeks!

Here come some pics of the new updated Pickup bumper installed on CJ's new rig!!

We listened to the replies on this thread and did some sweet updates These new updates will also be done to the new 4Runner bumpers shipped after today.

Here are some shots from the back. CJ will simply raise his license plate for proper visibility.





Here is a close shot of the corner and step plate detail.



We've updated the shackle design to a HEAVY DUTY double support design with a cross tube for the D-Ring shackle. You can also see the detail  of the dual corner frame bracket bracing.





Here we cleaned up the design of the Turtle by using underneath spot welds instead of perimeter side welds. The Turtle is now cleanly mounted



Finally, here is a nice shot of how well the bumper tucks up to the body. The improved side load design has drastically decreased the amount of side flex on the bumper. It's a huge improvement!



I'll post up some pics of the bumper painted soon I really love these new bumpers!!

That's where mine is. It's no big deal to mount it there. Plus, it's far less likely to get damaged or lost during a trail run. 8)

Hello tgmaul88,

You'll encounter two problems: 1) The side protection is not long enough and it will only protect a portion of your bed behind your rear wheel wells, and 2) The brackets that attach to the frame are too short, so you'll either need to a) add material to extend the frame brackets or b) just weld the brackets directly to the frame.

All I did was drilled new holes in my license plate thereby raising my plate a few inches. Now it's visible and in the stock location with the stock license plate light

I just reused one of the stock lamps and painted part of it to shield the portion that doesn't need to show light. Then I mounted just above the plate and it looks just fine. Just be selective in the wire routing so it won't break from opening and closing the tailgate. Once again, no big deal.

Aww... what a bummer.  My new to me truck did not come with a bumper, so I really need a bumper.  Since you don't have an eta, can you mention who makes them, so I can check to see if they can make me a knock off or something?  I make service calls in Fresno for my job, fairly often.  Are you able to elaborate on why the delay?  Is the bumper going through a re-design or anything?  The contractor a slacker?lol  Does this "hold" also apply to your rock slider rocker panel guards?  I need a pair of those too.  Thanks for the update.

I like the new design, but the turtle logo is going to create instant rust issues.  there is no way to get paint or powdercoat between the bottom side of the logo and the top of the step plate.  There will always be rust coming out from under the logo.

Thats the first thing i thought of when i saw it.  Every time it rains you will see rust on it.  I would get it laser cut out of the step plate.  Rest of the bumper looks great.
