shackles
« on: Feb 21, 2005, 06:40:13 AM »
i made i set of custom shackles for my 91 pick up. i was all ready to install them so i started by trying to remove the old ones. i sprayed them up with penetrating fluid 2 days before. i removed the nuts but when i try to get the shackles out of the leaf and the shackle mout to the body the whole rubber bushing comes out with it. it must be rusted to the steel bushing inside. anyone else have this problem and know a way i can solve it i am clueless i tried everything. I was beating on it with a bfh for like 2hrs getting all pissed off because it wont let go. any input will help thanks
i love playin in the mud

get the shackles off,  the stock shackles usually stick to the rubber bushings,  you can always use new bolts,

I guess I'm not clear on what your problem is.  Are you saying that the bushing is coming out with the bolt or can you not get the bolt out at all?

I ususally just torch out the old bushings and put new poly bushings in. It is damn near impossible to get the bolts out of the rubber bushings on the rear of these trucks
That's how I roll

Nope you can get standard rubber bushing for an older yota or get urethane.
