ssr vs nitto mud grapplers
« on: Feb 13, 2012, 10:48:19 AM »
im looking to purchase a set of super swamper radial tsl's or nitto mud grapplers ( 33x13.5x15 ) for my 89 toyota
ive read some mixed reviews on both sets of tires.
this is my dd / light off road / hunting vehicle
which are your opinions on these tires or other suggestions for light mud, snow, and tire wear.

thanks in advance

Id get the nitto's.  SSR's are known to come apart and have weak sidewalls.

after more research ive decided to go with the general grabber red letter's
going to order them when the bank opens this morning  ;)

Go nitto, you'll be hard pressed to find a smoother riding truck tire.

Please, please, please go run those through all types of mud and get me some good feedback!  Unbiased feedback, not the "jesus h, I just spent how much on these mud tires that won't work in mud" feedback.

2005ish dodge red.  Can't remember the exact year, but we just had a 2005ish dodge dakota in today and I was commenting on how nice a red it is.

And thanks Stocker, there goes 2-3 hours of my much needed rest checking out that site again  :haha:

sorry but i HATE mud. dunno why but mud has never got me off like climbing a good bank  :eyebrow:
i never stick my truck in a large hole unless theres noway around it
but where suppose to be getting around 6-8 inches of snow tonight in higher elevation and i plan on heading to tihe mountains tomarow evening
i will give you my .2 cents on how they do in snow if we end up getting any

but thanks for the red color suggestions  :beerchug:

Understood.  My truck does the majority of its' off-road duty getting me into fishing or hunting areas, so mud is a big concern for me, as well as good sidehilling capabilities, which those tires should be quite good at.

same as my truck, but mostly fishing i have a fourwheeler for the hunting lease,
my truck does see light mud every now and then but nothing worth telling how the tires did sorry.
