Sounds like a good deal to me Yeller..  That Mauser is gonna take some cleaning to get all the cosmoline of it, And you really need to take the bolt apart to get it out of the inside of it, If you don't the firing pin maybe sluggish to hit. Ruger makes one of the funnest .22 ever built.

I have removed all of the nasty mud/cosmoline except the bolt and firing pin Im watching a you tube video now on the breakdown of the bolt so I can do that thanks Bob


as far as the .22 my uncle hands it to me and 200 rounds and says have fun :woohoo:  I guess I better do as he tells me too LOL

It's a pain the first time ya do it but once you learn how to hold the spring tension it aint so bad, putting it back together is easier. I have 6 or7 maybe 8 mausers, I really like them. :biggthumpup:

No :pokinit:!!   I have two Savage .300 model 99's.  Both guns are nearly identical.  One made in 1923, and the other in 1957.  The older one's action is as tight as the day it was made.  The newer one, is as sloppy as a street walker.

Looks like your gun was made in 1943 by Remington Rand. The barrel is from a Match Gun used in the mid 60's.
( * A "Match Gun" is a competition gun. These guns were used by the Army Shooting Team for matches held at Camp Perry. * )

The magazine was made in the 70s by Checkmate Industries, Inc.

so Im thinking keep it as original looking as I can and shoot the crap outa it :gap:
