I trying to figure out what diff to run on my front HP third member.  I'm not going with ARB's, I have a detroit locker in the back.   I still drive my truck on the street too, so I need something that works on and off road.  Thanks for any ideas, please give me some pros and cons too.   :beerchug:

Get a rear v6 carrier and lockrite.  Thats what I have and it doesnt make enough noise to even know its there.  I love it.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

I know alot of guys that run both of those lockers with no problem..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

I agree with WT- run a v6 rear carrier and stuff a lockright in there.  Mine works great!

Get a HP third from marlin with the electric locker.  Mucho Dinero, but man is that a sweet setup.

I actually like ARB's, just don't want to deal with all the other stuff to make it work.  I really like the idea of running a V6 carrier with lock rite, since I already have the V6 carrier.  Where can I get the best price on the lock rite?  Thanks for all the help guys!!!

aahhh i see.
i just run mine off my onboard air.
didnt want to buy an arb compressor.

I wonder what would be better, a true-trac or my V6 carrier with lock rite for the HP front???

WHITE_TRASH

A tru-trac isnt an actual locker.  Its a torque biasing differential.  It will never lock and stay that way, it will always have some slip.  It is head and shoulders above an open diff but for my $$ its a lockrite or spin.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking.  I'm ordering all my sh$t tomorrow.  Thanks WT

if you ever do any hard wheeling you will hate the tru-trac.
i have a few people i know that have them in the front.
they never grab when you need the to unless you are constantly on the brakes to get it to lock in.
i would run the lock right/aussie/e-z locker/quick lock   or detroit before the tru-trac.
tru-tracs are for people that drive easy fireroads and need a little more traction in their axles. :stopit:

must be something right about the truetrac,   since Mack has used the design for 50 years

i have one in the front and  one wheel spins faster than the other but they both always pull  :dunno:  no i dont crawl over rocks  but some fairly rough terrain,  and still have a open diff in the rear

Rockhoppa

I have a lockrite in the rear right now. I have another lockrite for the front that I ran  for about 2 trips but pulled it cause I didnt like being locked all the time up front. Im going with an ARB. Now I have a spare for the rear.

derek

i ran an e-z locker up front for years.
it broke finally and now i run an arb.
i will never again put anything but a selectable locker in the front of one of my rigs.

given money wasnt an issue i would do the elocker in both ends or arbs,  but i like the elocker.  i hope to get a ez or soft locker for the rear, on the cheap soon,  or i'll weld it up
