« on: Feb 13, 2005, 06:21:38 PM »
Does anybody have any info on using f150 springs like what years i could use and how much lift they give you. I was wanting to go leaves on the rear of my 92 4runner while I am doing the sas.

they should work fairly well... when i replaced teh springs on my f150 they actually lifted the rear about 2" I have had them side by side with toy springs and they should give about 4" of lift as they a good arch to them... you will have to use a longer shackle with them to make them work.. same way you do with the chevies.. been thinking for some time to use some ford springs on my truck as they are easy to find up here for free usually and after owning my ford they flex good aswell.

Mid 80's to late 90's 2wd f150's. You can use earlier ones, but I prefer the mid 80's up because they come with teflon pads at the tips stock. They will give you some lift, but with the weight of a 4runner it won't be as much as the mini. The ones on my runner are from a '96 150, and i've also put in a 2" add a leaf for a little extra lift, and to firm it up a bit on mine. Another buddy of mine used them on his cruiser and he added some leafs from his stock pack to get the ride he wanted. As far as flex..... they are awesome. Of course they work much better on the front than the rear, just like any other spring does, because of the spring location on the axle and lack of weight on the rear, but they are big improvement over most spring options, especially when you consider how cheap you can get them.

I went with the 150's cuz they work just as good as the chevy's, but there not quite as long, so there isn't as much spring sticking out.

Thanks,
My last truck didn't have any probs with axle wrap. I haven't wheeled this one enough to really find out, but so far it doesn't seam to be a prob.
