Stock Skid Plates
« on: Feb 13, 2005, 01:27:38 PM »
I got my truck a while ago from a friend, and just a few days ago, he gave me the stock skid plates, one for the front, and one for the gas tank, but no hardware in sight.  Can anyone tell me what size these bolts are, I've tried a few different sizes with no luck so far.  Thanks a lot!  The truck is a 91 pick-up DLX.

Is it M8x1.25 for all the bolts on the front and gas tank skid plates?

If you get aftermarket bolts they will have a 14mm head if I remember right.  Id go to a wrecking yard and pull them out of wrecked yota's.  Hoods, doors, tailgates etc. are all held on with the same bolts.  And a wrecking yard probobly will give them to you for nothing too. ;)

The stock front skid is like paper. I crumpled mine on the first rock I hit. Made a new one out of 5/8 aluminum that I had sitting around.

Yea, the stock skid palte is really thin, but its all i got for now.  I plan to make one out of some thicker steel plate, maybe 3/16" or 1/4".
