Slow Going 87 Build Up. Progress So far.
« on: Oct 23, 2011, 08:15:04 PM »
I picked up this 87 Runner in about 2009. I got it for only $450 due to to a bad tranny and 1 missing topper window. I was able to find a tranny for $150 with only about 32k miles on it. It still had the factory stickers on it. I pulled off the roof rack and the carpet and side panels. They all had water damage to them. It then got its first paint job, I went with desert tan with flat black trim. It stayed like that for about 2 years. Then with help from 3 other people it got "Tagged" lol.  After that I stripped it down and painted it Caterpillar Yellow with Flat black trim. That is where it is now for Body work. Other then paint I keep pulling the Interior. I recently got the Interior form a 94 Runner. That is next to go in.

As for mods and such. It is pretty much stock. I just keep replacing the parts I break. Everything for twisted CV axles, to ripping off my rear axle on a trail, I should not of been on. lol. On one trip out it caught fire in the engine compartment. I wad it rewired and running in less that a day. I finally got around to to putting 5.29 gears in the rear axle, but I think it was cut wrong from the factory. The pinion wont seat all the way down. Just need to get a hold of the manufacture. That is all I can think of for the moment. As soon as I figure out this site, I'll upload pics starting with the day I bought it,  to where it is now.

Here is a pic of how it looked when I bought it.

Here is the First Tan paint job. I think it was in the first week of getting it.

Ok here is the 2nd paint job. Well I should say the "Tagging".

And here is the Cat Yellow I painted it after the previous paint job.

The black areas form when it was tan stayed black. Along with the front bumper and the rock sliders.
