isuzu diesel
« on: Sep 21, 2011, 09:41:39 PM »
I have a line on a used Isuzu diesel engine. Looking at different web sites, I haven't found anything about the ability to adapt the isuzu diesel to a toyota transmission.

I've been doing some reading on the OM617 mercedes swap. I'm trying to decide which way to go, with the swap. Your guys input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Carl.

Which Isuzu diesel motor are you referring to?  I know that the diesel PUPs and Troopers from the 1980s continue to enjoy some popularity, but I am guessing you might mean the Isuzu engines from the box truck. ??

I have a line on both type of engines.  One's out of an 84 Isuzu pup, the other engine is out of a 91 box truck.

So from what i hear from 80s import diesel lovers over at Toyotadiesel.com, the 80s isuzu PUP motor is really sweet for its time, and preferred over the L series engines.  I have not researched the swap.  Wondering whether or not you'll have to use a divorced T-case adapter with the stock tranny.  if you're doing a swap though, then I say take the power of the newer bigger engine.

I'm thinking of getting the newer engine.
My question is, does anyone know of any adapters to the Toyota trans or Chevy automatics?

AA sbc to toyota R series is allready available from advanced adapters.  Do the 4bd2t swap with this bellhousing and it will be a really easy swap.
