After seeing about 300psi difference between winter and summer months, I painted my 20lb tank black.  The higher psi boosted my tire fill-up count.

It turn to the same volume of gas, hot or cold.
So thats not possible.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Do you mean tank psi, or more tires from each tank?

I know the tank psi definitetly changed.  Before painting it black, the tank psi would be about 1000psi, after it would get as high as 1200psi on a day where the temp was above 110.  A friend of mine at the time(a physics major) thought that it wasn't a good idea allow the tank to heat up, and commented on how much more pressure the tank was under between 900psi and 1200.  However since the tank was rated to 2500psi, and I hadn't had an issue with the it even on hot days, I figured there wasn't anything to worry about.

As far as the tire count goes, it seemd that I was getting more tires per tank after painting it black then before, however I also changed where I was getting the tank filled.  Before painting the tank I had been using a welding shop, but after they increased their price/pound, I went to a fire supply store, so I could have been getting short changed.

You are under inflating the tires, using a heated gas, ever wonder why the tires say whatever psi cold?
Gas expands as its heats up. Thats why it seems you get more tire fills, you are putting too little gas in each tire, cause its hotter and has expanded. But once it cools off the tire psi drops.
With c02 the only way to know how much is the cylinder is to weigh it. It makes a constant pressure from 500-1000 depending on the temp of the day.
