welder?

ok so i new to the whole crawler scene i wanna learn how to fab stuff myself i wanna buy a welder and learn by myself what welder would be good to learn and progress on im looking to spend about 300. any advice will be useful thank you. :biggthumpup:

I would definately buy something that is 220. You are not going to be able to buy a new welder that will be good for fabricating suspension parts etc for that kind of money. I would buy a milermatic 170, they are bad ass machines. Take a look at craigslist, you may find a crack head deal.

Id learn to make welds first before you try to weld anything critical.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

Yes, you could definately build bumpers with that and I completely agree, practice before you weld any critical parts. Welding is a skill that you have to use, another words you need to practice. There are books, videos etc. Good luck.

Make t joint welds, weld one side and break it. See how hard it is to do that, look at how it breaks etc.

I can do all that with a 110 welder. So a 220 for sure.

If you haven't found it yet, there is a Welding section under the Bumpers, Cages, and Tube Benders section that should be helpful.
'90 black X-cab mod'd 3.0, 33's/4.88's, rear ARB, custom bumpers, sliders, safari rack, etc.
