22r engine mounts
« on: Aug 05, 2011, 07:08:33 AM »
Yes this is a stupid newbie question,  :stopit: I have a 1982 with a 22r will a 1984-89 22r drop right in?

I was reading through some forums on another site and I ran across a guy who said the engine mounts were in different locations. I did not think this was the case so I want to check it out with some people first. I found a local complete 22r I want to swap out in my truck. And yes the donor motor is a 22r not an re

Thanks

I'm not an expert on this but I do believe the blocks are the same as are the mounts. My 83' and my grandsons 85 have the same mount location on the blocks.
Just check the mount location on the donor engine, you should be good to go.

Don't know if this is relavent but my buddy has even dropped a 1992 22 re into an 82 and had no issues with the mounts not lining up.
83 shorbed pickup. 22 re swap. Dual ultimates, l52hd tranny, 5 " marlin trailflex lift. Yukon 529. Grizzly in rear zip locker front. And a bunch of other stuff....

Any of these engine swap vehicles registered and smoged in CA? Im trying to figure out if I will have to do the whole BAR certification BS and get a sticker. Also if its a 4runner motor will it disqualify the smog check since it is an "suv" motor in a truck?
