I used Klean-Strip metal stripper (from Wal-Mart) on the side of a 3 wheeler engine. Which was also aluminium. Let it sit for about 2 hours. And just wire brushed it off. The paint just rolled off and the cover looked like I just bead blasted it.

go to any auto paint store and get top grade aircraft stripper (about 5-10 bucks) use a stiff brisseled brush bruch it on nice and thick let stand for 25 - 20 mins and rinse with a medium to high press water and it will have NOTHING on it and it is made to work with alum
