I pulled a diff from an 80 yota with 4.37 gears in the rear for a couple bolts. When I pulled it out, it looked like a limited slip or something. So I snapped a pic and wanted to see if anyone has seen one of these.   :dunno:  It seemed to me it was just maybe an open carrier. It had casted into it "TOY-20....." the rest was cut off for the ring gear.

looks like a detroit tru tac, factory toyota LSD carriers look similar as well

Yeah that had crossed my mind earlier too, but all of the tru-tracs I see in pictures have the spiral gears parallel to the axle shafts. Yet these ones are perpendicular. Maybe its an old design?

i know that it that era, renault made trannies, some diffs, ect. it looks EXACTLY  like a renault built factory optioned limited slip

Similar in operation to a TrueTrac but looks like a Torsen to me.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsen
