So some of you know that I work at a college.  Well they just asked me about 2 weeks ago to help them build a car, its a 1939 Pontiac Deluxe 26, Touring sedan, Silver Streak (4 door coup).  They had previously purchased the car did some of the disassemble then sent it to be bead blasted.  Today was the first time I have seen the car.  This is what it looks like as of now.

So the plans for the car as it sits now is to
1) Put 4 wheel disk brakes on it.
2) Put seat belts in it similar to the ones in the late 90's Dodge trucks with the rear suicide doors (seat belts are built into the seats).
3) Make it electric.  It will be a DC operated vehicle which will keep the cost down around $9000 for the kit & adaptor that mates it to the transmission.

This car will be used in parades & photo opportunities.  This should be a fun project.  I hate to see a perfectly good running (can you believe it ) car & switch it over to all electric but I also think it is the way of a lot of future cars.  So it should be interesting at least.  I will post pics & progress as it happens depending on intrest from you guys.

It sounds like a cool project but why is the school building it? Just for parade and photo stuff? seems kinda weird... :dunno:

But definitely post up pics/progress as you go

Yeah it is strictly a PR project, but since I do not have to pay the bill on it why not.
