Topic: front leafs on my 81

  what in the world, i want to adjust the front of my 81    :headscratch:the stock leafs r in ok shape i guess, no crawler, just want it up because of the heavy winch and bumper i am going to install, and to transfer some of the weight to the back, it is a 81 long wheel base, i guess my question is what to do to acheive this,  the cheaper route of course, has anyone just added a leaf and new u bolts, if so which ones and how many

go to a salvage yard and find a late 80- early 90's 2wd Chevy S10  they have springs that have a lot of arc and the same width as the yota springs do.  you can then add them to your stock front spring packs.  you'll need longer u bolts and  center tie bolts.

....and whatever you do don't do an add-a-leaf you can buy at the local 4x4 shop. Those should only be put on the rears, the added weight of the winch and winch bumper will bend the stock springs and may even break the main leaf. They provide no flex at all, if you are going to put more leafs in do what Glen says.
