Will 79 Cab fit 83
« on: May 28, 2011, 04:22:25 PM »
Just wondering if the 79 Toyota truck cab will bolt right on to an 83 pickup.  I know its the same body style but did any thing change from 79 to 83?

Yes, the engine in the 79 was a 20r, the engine in the 83 is a 22r.

I think they are the same.  the two wheel cab has different front mounts than the 4x cab

with a 2 inchbody lift it will but without one it wont.

the 79 had a L43 and short style tcase, this made for having a short tranny tunnel but the 83 has the L52 which is about 2 inches taller than the L43.  so as long as you run a 2 inch body lift it will work great.

You are going to have to trim the trans tunnel just a little bit for the L52 you don't need a body lift if you do the trimming. Everything else as far as mounts and such is the same.

Marlin suggested I use a small sledge on the floor when I got my L52 but at the time the body lift was a better option.
my current cab with the body lift was actually hammered DOWN so the shifter didnt jump out of gear

yea tell me about it :(   its weird also how immediately following the wreck some of the injuries didnt show up right away.  my doctor told me sometimes the body cant handle all the pain signals it receives from the body :dunno:
