Hi Crawlers,

I have been doing some reading on Bob is the oil guy, and I'm wondering if I can use a oil in the steering knuckle?

Hi Crawlers,

I have been doing some reading on Bob is the oil guy, and I'm wondering if I can use a oil in the steering knuckle?

The problem is you would leak the crap everywhere, and leave your stuff dry.  The seals are not designed for it.  Yes it would be sufficient and possibly better.  You have many other considerations, top bearing lube, and a sealing surface.  We use this type of lubrication every day, not in this application.

Thanks for the reply Kevin, well no it dont leak everywhere just discharges and coats the ball, this is a picture of about worse case senerio discharge on the knuckle, 6 months after repair, and deep groove in straight ahead position, and pitted

Checked level 6 months after repair,, no need to add,,, leakage in a sense of Class 1 leakage, yes leakage is broke down into 3 classes, Class 1 leakage is desired, preferred, just talked to a wheeler yesterday with one of these rigs, said he put some grease on the exposed steel, figered he should, Yep he is right,

But this does it for you,,,

As it should the seals are in fact designed for it,,,

And Keven you say you use this all the time ? where ? in What ?

Thanks a bunch Frank

Why is the axle all wet? Did we just wash it off? Maybe to hide something leaking?

well I do think that it is possable,
no leaks, help lube a little better

but thats not the problem for stock birfs,  there plain weak
oil in there wont help that!

and longs would recomend it if it ment less returns on lifetime parts!

So you would think, and be able to run a long in a full time unit,,, but no something is fishy @ camp Longfield,,,

knows about this stuff, for sure, but sides with Toyota Sales,,, all sorts of mean nasty names come to mind ,,

He knows about it for sure, as well others in your circles,,,  Why side with Toyota well ??? you tell me

"and longs would recomend it if it ment less returns on lifetime parts!"

Also keep one thing in mind here, the warranty applies to breakage just plain wore out, no warranty,, so

He dont care,

Even tells folks clicking is normal,, It aint, not in my book,

Step up Crawlers
