Description of the Club:
The Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno was founded in 1954 in Fresno, Calif. The club has since built ten trails and currently maintains six. The club coordinates with the forest service to perform clearing in the spring, closings in the fall and other various work projects throughout the year on the entire club's adopted trails. Some of the various work projects include building and maintaining toilets, maintaining campgrounds, trail cleanups and maintenance of trail signage.

Trail Description:
Dusy-Ershim OHV Route offers 33 miles of challenging obstacles and beautiful scenery high in the skies at an altitude of 10,200 feet. The route features high mountain meadows, creeks, six natural lakes, unique granite mountains, cliffs and panoramic views. The trail is rated "most difficult" and is a major challenge to travel, therefore having advanced driving skills is highly recommended.

The trail is in a 600 foot wide corridor between the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness and the John Muir Wilderness. These areas have many foot trails, lakes, and creeks that are accessible while traveling the Dusy-Ershim trail. Aside from all the scenery, it is a very challenging trail in which some consider more difficult than The Rubicon Trail. Some of the challenges names include: Chicken Rock, Little Thompson Hill, Thompson Hill, Divorce Rock, Boulder Alley and Gatekeeper. There are many other challenging obstacles that remain nameless.

Vehicles Specs to use on the Trail:
•Vehicle with 4" lift
•A minimum of 33" tires. 13-15 lbs. of air pressure increases traction and protects resources
•4x4 with gear reduction
•Front and rear axle locker
•Roll bar/cage
•Winch, snatch block and tree saver
•High-lift jack
•Spare tire and air compressor
•CB radio

If Awarded the Grant:
The funds would be used to purchase materials to build and install outhouses on the trail. The club has plans to put a toilet at Dusy Creek, East Lake, Mallard Lake and Lakecamp Lake.

thanks, I have posted this all over the place... we need you guys to vote and help us stay ahead of the trail takeovers by the eco freeks that don't understand that we (the club) are the ones maintaining these trails, and will do so for as long as we have them . please VOTE...member 1164 said that
