chevy springs

well i just went and got some 2wd chevy springs and what i need to  no is what shackle do i use in the back for the dual shackles.. stock toy shackle and then chev or can i use my 2in lift shackle and then the chev ?  also what is the best way to biild the frunt sping hanger? pics would be nice thx.  this is going on a 85 runner

Put your 2 inch lift shackle inbetween your chevy shackle and your leaf spring.  That will give you the maximum lift and depending on were you weld the front hanger, a good shackle angle.  You talking about the front spring hanger for the chevy spring?  I just bought them from my local 4x4 shop.

This is a picture of a friends toy.  He mounted his the same way i did mine.  You can kinda see how we did it.  Bought the mount and welded it on.  If it helps at all.

This is how I did mine I hung the chevy shackle from the frame and layed it against the frame and mounted my shackle from the chevy shackle I don't like the way it looks with the shackle lying on the spring but I know that's how revolvers are.

I perfer having a solid mount. Its going to be more stable and predictable. With a doubble shackle it will act funky sometimes, and you wont always know what its doing.

Plus, without double shackles, mine still flexes fine.

And I still have a bit more travel out of the springs. If I backed up, you would see. I have just about as much travel out of the rear as the front.

Here is the rear of mine.  I use the double shackle and the rear flex's better then the front.  Both front and rear have 5012 shocks.  those arent that long either.

thx you guys for the help that what i needed to no . i should have this dun by this weekend and then i can start to redo the frunt .

I agree I prefer a solid mounts to, I am going to make some shackles that are long enough to replace the double set up using the stock hanger and use 3/4 inch bolts also.

go with the solid mount,,the double shackle will unload if you go down a steep down hill climb,,they can fold under if you have to back down a sttep clib,,and they make noise..all you flex come from the shackle in that set up,,you really don't work the spring..You can put jonny joint mounts in the rear and be happy..I would not put chevys under a light truck though..The chevy springs I think work best under a heavy 4runner over a lighter truck..Also swap out the chevy over load for a toy overload,,and cut off the rear spring clamps,,keep the front keepers for axle wrap..
