Yukon is good  I have heard a lot of good things about richmond.  That is what I have and had before.  Finallly broke my pinion after 20k miles of owning the truck, and the previous owner having 40k on the gears, turning 35"s then 37"s

I have purchased 2 sets of gears from Randys. I lost my first set of 529's due to a loose pinion after 100K. Crush sleeve loosened. I am on my second set ~ 5k so far. They have worked fairly well for me.

There is no such thing as a yukon Gear Set. Yukons are just repackaged gear set's. For example, a buddy ordered a set of gears from Randy's Ring and Pinion. They showed up the Yukon box. The gears were stamped US Gear. He hasn't had any major probs with the gears. So US Gear makes a good gear set. If you do a search on Pirates, there are tons of threads talkong about this. There are also two types of gears you can buy from Randy's. You can buy budget, or quality. The budgets are cheaper, but are made by some lesser name company.

Do the genuine gears lack strength or are they just noisy when not shimmed as well? On a trail truck who cares about a gear humming.
