I'm trying to find a gauge cluster with a tach and full range of gauges to fit my '91, 22re, 5 speed pick up.  I found a nice one from a 4 cylinder truck, but it was a 95 and had an electronic speedometer.  Is it possible to somehow make the elctronic speedo gauge cluster work with my standard cable driven setup?  Everything else about this cluster was just what I needed.  Thanks a lot!

Autometer has a part for just that.  So people can run their self calibrating electric speedos with a standard cable sender.  Try the autometer website.  I don't know if it will work on a Toyota.

Or maybe you can take the electronic sender from the 95.  The mounting hole might be the same size.  I would measure it and see.  Then pickup a junkyard sender and give it a whirl.

I was afraid of having to wire in a new sending unit, unless of coarse its only a wire or 2.  Is there any way to convert the electric speedo gauge cluster to work with a normal cable drive?  Can I maybe replace the internals and what not in the electric cluster with the internals of my old cable driven cluster?  WHat would happen if I just ran my cable into the electronic cluster, would it get fried or something or just not work at all?
