The Yukon Zip Locker is an air operated locker similar in design to the ARB Air Locker, but at a more competitive price. Like the Grizzly and Spartan, Yukon improved upon existing technology by developing strong and reliable lockers. The Zip Locker is based on a proven design that Marlin has used since the late 1980's, but yet it features a strong forged nodular case with high-nickel 4320 Chromoly steel internals for increased strength.

The Zip Locker works with air pressure supplied to a bonded seal which drives a clutch onto a splined gear. This locks the spider gears from rotating resulting in a 100% fully locked axle. With the flip of a switch, air pressure is released and a return spring slides the clutch off the splined gear and the differential unlocks.

Includes a complete installation kit with the following:

  • Includes necessary 4cyl carrier bearings (for 4cyl apps)
  • Seal housing
  • O-rings
  • Nylon air line
  • Push-in air fitting and adapters

  • Switch with front and rear locker covers
  • Solenoid valve
  • Zip ties
  • Installation instructions
  • Service manual

Zip Lockers work with a variety of air delivery systems including air compressors, on-board air, powertanks, and more. All Zip Lockers are assembled in the USA and are recommended for any type of Rock Crawler. Yukon is so confident with the Zip, they include a one year warranty!

Very interested, I have an ARB for my front axle (not installed yet) and like the idea of saving $250 to have an air locker for my rear. I was curious if there were some pictures of the full kit yet with all the parts included. Also what dose the supplied wiring harness entail? The switch to the solenoid? How difficult would it be to make work with the ARB compressor?  Thanks!

I have an 85 4runner, are these going to require the late model/ V6 carrier bearings, or are they going to come ready to drop in?

Zips are included in the free shipping deal. The info on built diff pricing with a Zip should be up shortly.

The locker doesn't come with a harness, that's with the compressor. It appears that the solenoid that comes with the Zip will work on the ARB compressor but I'm not %100 on that. The Zip uses a push-lock fitting at the diff as well at the solenoid which makes swapping line quick and easy.

The 4 cylinders do require special bearings as the carrier is the same for the V6 and 4 cyl applications. The nice thing is that the Zip includes the necessary bearings where with an ARB you have to get them separately.

That was a misprint. It is being modified right now. There is definitely not any kind of wiring harness included with the Zip Locker.

Yukon designed a much better line fitment at the diff in this regard in my opinion for sure! :bowdown:

Does anyone know how much air pressure the pump that comes with the on the fly adjustment of Rancho 9000s puts out?

Just wondering if that could be used as the air pressure source.

hmmmm.... sounds liek a more solid option to an arb air locker....... might have to look into these..... well, once i have a truck, lol

Got mine today. So I will have an ARB in the front and a Yukon in the rear. I'll let everyone know what I think of it. So far I think it looks great. Also to let everyone know the switch and cover are the same as the ARB, and the solenoid plugs into the ARB harness. I'm so excited going from open, 4.10's to air locked 5.29's.

So I can can just run this into my arb compressor? This looks like a good alternative to me getting a second arb...

I got them installed this weekend. So far so good. The only thing I like the seals on the ARB a little better. They use a square o-ring with a groove, kinda like a piston seal on a brake caliper. The Zip uses standard o-rings. Also I like the bulk head fitting on the ARB more than the Zip. The copper line inside the diff is secured and separate from the air line. If installing a Zip I recommend installing your air line with out the 3rd installed in the diff. That could have been my fault because I took the push in fitting off after I tested it, before I installed it. I wasnt sure how well the fitting worked. It seemed a little flimsy, and didn't feel like it was in all the way. After messing with it for a while it was fine. Also the ARB air line is thicker. Other than that its almost identical to an ARB. And in my opinion well worth the savings.

I just finished putting my 3rds in today, just have to get the air source figured out. Anyway, I read somewhere Yukon was offering a lifetime warranty for a additional price, I believe it was $50. Is there any truth to this?

I checked on their warranty, and I believe their lifetime only applies their Chromoly axles and Spool lockers.

I just purchased the Zip and Grizzly equipped diffs from MC and I look forward to installing them. I'll keep you updated with my opinion as to how they work and install.
