muddywaters,

I hate to say this but the 37" ROCKERs look better on 17s. What do they measure from ground to top of tire? Thanks!

did they put the 2 bags in just for kicks or did they put them on a machine?? because my 35's took less than like 2 ounces to balance and the balanced very well. 80mph = no vibes.

The amount of balancing powder was based on a chart.  he did not put them on the balancer as far as i know.  yours taking 2 ounces is surprising.  most reviews say they take 12 to 16 oz to balance.  i never have good luck with wheel weights anyway. we take a lot of logging roads and the debris gouges and tears off weights.

Big Mike...unmounted, 32 psi.

i tried to get it as straight as possible and take a pic at the same time. im a little crooked but they measure way better that my 35" km2s that were 33.5.

i really like the profile of this tire. width is perfect.  the sidewalls are very thick.  the 17s are perfect.  im glad i went ahead and made the switch. i am eyeballing the 41.5s for my fzj80.  we will see when they hit the shelves.

hahaha I don't know man, I hear you praising how easy they were to balance, but mine were a nightmare. I also had their bias ply version. I LOVE how the ROCKERs look and wheel.....!

I'm pretty bummed to see the MTR design thrown away, and how many new tires are only avail in 17" rims (yes, I understand newer full size trucks have huge brakes).

So it looks like my only good option will be an Interco brand, in which case I will not hesitate to run their TruXs MTs. blane525 has them and I've wheeled and daily driving with them and they are a GREAT all around even-wearing tire. And they are much lighter than the ROCKERs which is a plus for my needs.

Mike you had the old bias tires these things are an entirely different dog.

I'm convinced you could run the 37 rockers at 80mph easy with no problems.

are you wanting to keep your 15 inch wheels??

the 37s come in at 92#  they dont seem nearly that heavy, but i dont have a scale to weigh them on.  i was a little worried about the load range in the beginning, but i think with some break-in(running 10psi to work and back for the next couple of days), i will have a radial that is just as tough as a bias.

a friend of mine runs 36" iroks and heavy steel beadlocks.  despite the heavy combo his truck flexes, climbs, and stays planted better than most trucks i see.  i attribute that to the weight at the corners.  Its really not a bad place to have some weight in my experience.

i dont know if i mentioned it, but the wheels are Cragar Soft 8s 17x8 3.5" BS ordered through summit.  the tires and wheels have both had a price increase since i ordered them just a month ago.

another factor that weighed on my decision to go 17s, like BigMike mentioned, was brake caliper clearance for the 80 series axles im almost ready to swap in.

gonna have to do a little more trimming:

turning down my hubs this morning so i can get the front axle back together.

Hmmmmmm? I thought the radial versions changed the entire design :headscratch:

I'm convinced you could run the 37 rockers at 80mph easy with no problems.
Why you gotta tempt me like this?!!!!

are you wanting to keep your 15 inch wheels??
Yes, because they are the BOMB

the 37s come in at 92#  they dont seem nearly that heavy, but i dont have a scale to weigh them on.
Here are two pics from my thread:

I am really happy to hear they've improved the ROCKERs a bit. Are they available as 37" on a 15" rim?

i attribute that to the weight at the corners.  Its really not a bad place to have some weight in my experience.
Absolutely, this is why comp vehicles add water to their tires. Unfortunately my concern is for daily driving :( But I now have my MR2 back on the road, and my truck doesn't get used so much. So.... perhaps this isn't so much an issue as it's been for me.

I just wish they made a tall narrow tire "Q-78".
I wish they made a 12.5 ROCKER!

yes they do. BigMike, you should definitely consider getting these again.  seeing your truck on rockers is one of the main reasons my first gen has rockers now.

                                                    height        sidewall      width         rim

37 x 12.50-15   C   2,910 @ 35 PSI   37.00"   13.80"   10.60"   10.00"   83 lbs.   22/32"
37 x 12.50-16.5   E   3,970 @ 65 PSI   37.15"   13.35"   10.60"   9.75"           88 lbs.   22/32"

Initial Impressions:

drove it around last night and to work this morning.  The rockers are surprisingly quiet and very smooth at 35-50 mph.   the 22re doesnt seem to mind the extra weight pulling off from a light.  i havent taken it up to highway speeds yet, but pleased with how they are acting around town on our horrilble roads.  on a side note, with the tacoma rotors and ifs calipers, i feel the braking has very much improved.  wheeling trip on the 25th.  full report to follow.

I am very glad to see a 37", 12.5" wide on 15" rim radial ROCKER that measures 37" instead of 35", but I've still got at least 2 more seasons on my MTRs + I don't have any money for new tires. One option could be to sell my MTRs right now, maybe they have 40-50% tread left, and then use that money to buy some new tires. Or I could start saving now to buy some new tires in 2013, that is if the world doesn't end in Dec 2012. :ha_ha:

cut my exo off and snapped a poser after work today:

a full size spare is on order and will level the truck out.  the bed is really showing is age now, damn rustbelt.

BigMike, i sold 5 km2s with rims which payed for 3 tires.  1 tire and the 17s came out of pocket.  it wasnt so bad.

a sawzall is going through the roof of my 80 this weekeend and this turd might get some fresh brown paint.

man i love these rockers.  had a chance to get them on the trail over the weekend and they are awesome.

Highway:  250 miles logged so far.  22-25 psi sweet spot.  they track very straight and are really smooth up to the 68 mph i could muster out of my 4 popper.  only downside is i have two reverse gears now.  reverse and 5th gear.

Mud: 10 psi.  our trails this weekend were covered in thick nasty mud and the hills were very slick.  the rockers churned through the mud so much better than my old km2s, i was very impressed.  little bit of wheel speed and they cleaned with ease.  you can feel the tire digging and clawing its way through the muck.  cant wait to air down more and hit the rocks.

the tires really softened up after the first air down.  i know they will only get better with age.

few pics, fenders were not trimmed for the trails yet so off they came that day.

10 psi
Im like Hugh Hefner minus everything good about his life.

are you 100% sure they come in a 12.50 wide for a 15 inch rim!?  i've always steered away from these tires just because i didn't like the wide tire for a 37.  I might have to get rid of my 37 inch mtr's and get these while mine are still in good shape.

If you can't convince them, confuse them.
